two guys

I wish this was a better photo because these guys are electric! They are done in oil on 4'x1' panels...not as a pair but I was too lazy to separate...(and not computer suave enough to accomplish)

Trigger Eye

This guy is one of the new paintings I am doing on animals...I jump around a bit...I want you to feel the energy that I was feeling when I painted him.

Combustable beach

What I love about this painting is not that I was painting the beach but I was expressing the freedom and joy I have when I pick up a paintbrush...this painting is done also with oil..many layers...and is 4'x5'..

Family Secrets

This paintings I did after the large one and is on a canvas 5'x4' and in oil...I like to keep some of my pieces so I can keep track of what I thought was important...obviously I thought softly about this subject...

Spontaneous Flow

This is more like the brushwork i am using now to create my paintings...I want you to know it is not a photograph..the closer you get the more the brushstrokes come alive! I am first and last a colorist...sometimes I get carried away...

Old Man River

I did this painting 2'x4' a couple years ago. He is much more subtle but sorta depicts what I was trying to say..My style is evolving into more spontaneous/electric brush strokes but still I am quite please with this.

The Economy sucks!

My Pig seems to share my sentiments exactly...I have painted a series of these free-form paintings...this one is 2'x4'...I begin with a subject but then create and paint freely. I am comfortable with animals because I love them and as long as I create the personality then I am home free with the rest of the painting.

FAlling for RED

This is one of the 100's of wax paintings I have done on 12"x12" panels...in wax..very textured..although I was 'taught' the smooth way...went to a workshop @ Penland with an R&F teacher who was fabulous --Fall 2009..Encaustic painting is so freeing and fun. I think I love it because I cant control the process. I start out with the plan but then I torch it with a Home Depot blowtorch (Tom leaves the garage when I bring the BIG boy out)and the painting takes on a new identity.

Lake Toxaway in wax

My next huge encaustic piece...6'x4'...tons of wax...lots of blow torching...at least 20 layers...many hours...finally I was happy...that is my ending point---I paint til I am happy! sometimes a lot of angst gets released in the process...and that is the truth...

Forever Now

This is my first try at doing a large encaustic piece...this is done on a panel 6'x3'...a lot of waxing went into this piece...when I am finished I use a blow torch to fuse each layer and then use a standard car polisher to polish...very exciting in person...I love the texture possible with waxing...my new passion!

Raven Rock Falls

My place of peace in Lake Toxaway North Carolina...This canvas is 8'x5' in oil...has taken forever to finish and is now hanging over our fireplace at the lake...This falls is at the end of the River Walk @ Lake Toxaway and I take all of my friends and new visitors to this walk...It is the most special place on earth for me.
